2006 Kent County Prayerwalk

As part of PrayerweekUK, a national initiative to get people praying for our nations, we are planning that every county in the UK and the Republic of Ireland should be prayerwalked this year between May 7-14.  PrayerweekUK is endorsed by The World Prayer Centre in Birmingham, the Evangelical Alliance and many more Christian organisations. We hope that London Boroughs and also the various Islands will also take part.  There are 39 counties in England, 31 London Boroughs, 34 counties in Scotland, 13 in Wales, 6 in Northern Ireland and 26 in the Republic, so there is a lot of work to do.  No-one can doubt the urgent need for prayer in our nation and we hope that even if just a few counties take part this year, that it will grow until we have every county covered.

The Kent County Prayerwalk will be part of this initiative and what we are planning, is to have teams of people who will meet at various points on the Kent County boundary, or the coast, who will then walk and pray into the centre, either Charing, which is probably the geographical centre or Maidstone, which is, I think, the county town.  We are then talking with a large church there about having a Prayer Celebration on Saturday May 13.  How this is done, will depend on each group.  All ages can get involved in different ways.  If you have a heart for your area and your nation, then join us.  You do not have to be an accomplished walker or pray-er.  We will advise and help train.

SATURDAY MARCH 4 at Green Street Green Baptist Church, Orpington, 10.30.

Because a lot of organisation is needed in Kent, we are planning to have a day to discuss it.  The date we have set is Saturday March 4.  If this is too soon for some people, we can set an alternate date in April.  This will be at Green Street Green Baptist Church which is just off the A 21 on the way to Bromley, 5 -10 minutes from the M25.  Take the turn off at the Oast House, towards Green Street Green and Orpington, and the church is just on the right next to a petrol station. (The church has a spire, so you can’t miss it)  We will start at 10.30 am and will finish when everything is covered, so we suggest people bring a packed lunch.  We will serve coffee etc. If you can’t come, please send a representative.  This meeting is for everyone who is interested, not just leaders.

We are planning a Kent Prayer Celebration, probably in Maidstone in the evening on May 13.  The venue and time will be announced later.
